#1 Farnell

Unread post by Cressy Snr »

Yesterday, I ordered a bench mounted smoke absorber from Farnell, so that I can continue the hobby without getting all sick from the solder fumes.
It’s coming today and the communication has been excellent. Ordering the thing was a bit of a hassle, but I learned something along the way.
I put the order in but became stuck on the country code, which was a required field.

UK - please enter a valid country code
United Kingdom - please enter a valid country code
+44 - please enter a valid country code

WTF?
I had to go and look up the ISO country code for the United Kingdom, which is 826.
I put that in the field and the order went through no problem.
I hope I got it right or the smoke absorber might end up in St Nevis and the Grenadines.

I’m as thick as shit sometimes. Must be my age.

That would have caused me a headache as well Steve.

Never 'erd of it sonny. I'll (try) and 'member.

Were you on the UK Farnell site? I have never been asked that when getting stuff from them. BTW, I suspect the code it was looking for was GB or GBR, that's what maps to 826.
I think the main reason why Europeans no longer want to travel to the USA is the big time difference. For me, it's now 7pm. In the USA it's now 1933.
