I'm bidding on an item on Ebay, and it comes bundled with a Sony MDS-JE480 Minidisc player.
Is there any "benefit" of such a machine ?

Yes.
The benefit of having a machine that plays Minidiscs means you can hear whats on any MInidiscs you may have.
Genius eh
EDIT. I don't want to disappoint you but even though its called a Sony MDS-JE480 Minidisc player it might not actually play 480 Minidiscs at once.

Mini disk format is brilliant for recording radio plays/concerts. I have several hundred disks of BBC Proms recordings from past years, very easy to edit the disks. The Sony MDS-JE480 has long play facility which can be quite handy as well.

Thanks. I mistakenly thought Minidiscs were small CDs, but now I know they are not.vinylspinner wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:58 pm Mini disk format is brilliant for recording radio plays/concerts. If I win the auction I'll have a play when it arrives.

I didn't win it, but probably the best outcome.

For some reason, that's funny.

Understand completely. Never bid on something on a whim...
EDIT: I posted some stuff about a Tek 2465B here and it kind of hijacked the thread, so I move it to "Everyone's Projects"
