put the old caps back on in the correct direction. there is power going to the unit and it detects a signal but there is no sound. could i have damaged the board or other components by putting the caps on the wrong polarity?
Its not a huge loss as a repacement board is chap enough.

Rechecked all the caps i had repalced (bit of a wiggle to them) noticed one or two were a little loose. re soldered them and hey presto it works 
I have a new board on the way as i thought i had messed this up so i will try the full cap mods on the new board. At least now i have a small clue on what to do.
